Museum of Broken Relationships

LINK quote [A museum dedicated to broken hearts has been founded in Croatia. Authors of the concept Olinka Vištica and Drazen Grubišić decided to set up the museum after consoling friends over their failed romances. The Museum of Broken Relationships is an art concept which proceeds from the assumption that objects possess integrated fields - ‘holograms’ of memories and emotions - and intends with its layout to create a space of ‘secure memory’ or ‘protected remembrance’ in order to preserve the material and nonmaterial heritage of broken relationships].

Besides sponsoring the Miss Exotic World pageant every year, the museum also houses an astounding collection of photos and other memorabilia assembled by legendary performer Jennie Lee. Check out the Hall of Fame—while the thumbnails are small, it's an exhaustive list of famous dancers and burlesque vixens].

FUNLAND: Pleasures & Perils of the Erotic Fairground

FUNLAND: Pleasures and Perils of the Erotic Fairground, an art installation by renowned London-based conceptual artist duo Bompas and Parr, features a selection of “carnival attractions” for audiences to enjoy and experience while they contemplate the sexual subtext of carnivals.

This immersive exhibition, commissioned by the Museum of Sex (New York), features five “attractions” designed to stimulate all five senses in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways. Physical, visual and olfactory experiences are utilized to give the audience a breathless rush of endorphins (similar to those released at the point of orgasm), challenge their strength and agility, and allow them to compete with and impress friends and lovers, as well as other patrons.

The Museum of Porn in Art

LINK quote [Since may 2004 the Museum of Porn in Art has been organizing "real" exhibitions again (first opening 1996). They take place in a small but fine winestore called Edi's Weinstube, situated in the heart of Zurich. The Merrylin Cryptid Museum

quote [You have stumbled upon the Merrylin Cryptid Museum, the life's work of Crypto-naturalist, Fringe Zoologist and Xeno -Archeologist Thomas Merrylin. This is the online archive of his unique collection of specimens. Creatures and artifacts thought to be nothing more than myth. It is a mystery that challenges our understanding of biology, chemistry and the very laws of physics. But this is no fairytale, for he was a scientist, and empirical evidence and rational thought hold sway here. There is a lot to see and read, so please take your time to peruse the website].

Maurycy Gomulicki: Bibliophilia

Bibliophilia at Flickr, Bibliophilia at Mocak Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków till 08.09.2011, Maurycy Gomulicki blog Pink not dead!.
quote [The entire project revolves around my grandfather, Juliusz Wiktor Gomulicki, and his book collection – the library of a humanist and a wayward spirit, an aficionado of curiosities and a ladies man. Books were truly the backdrop of my childhood – for the first six years of my life, I lived in a place floor-to-ceiling piled chockablock with books, often in double rows. For the next thirty-something, I was an almost daily visitor there,. I treat a library as a source and as a backdrop to let my imagination roam; as a place of manifold initiations. The smell of dust and the daydreaming about girls coexist perfectly in my consciousness. To this day, whenever I look at pornographic photographs with books in the background, I find myself deciphering the titles visible along the shelves, instead of concentrating on the ecstatically writhing bodies. Books are not only the knowledge contained therein – for me, they are above all a source of pleasure. The books and women in my life have become as much the triggers for my fantasies as the conduits of their fulfillment. My life story is full of women writers and women readers].

The Art of Chess

quote [“… if suddenly (and mysteriously) all the art works of the twentieth Century were to disappear and only a collection of chess pieces survived… art historians would be able to reconstruct all the various trends, styles and movements of the past century quite simply from a study of this collection…” Ernst Strouhal.
On occasion of Milan Design Week 2010 and the 49th International Furniture Fair of Milan, ProjectB is proud to present for the first time in Italy The Art of Chess, in partnership with RS&A London, which invited some of the world’s leading contemporary artists (Tracey Emin, Tom Friedman, Damien Hirst, Barbara Kruger, Yayoi Kusama Alastair Mackie, and Rachel Whiteread) to produce the chess sets, previously exhibited in 2009 at the Reykjavik Art Museum.

Hand-drawn animations by Jake Fried

quote [Jake Fried (1984) began his artistic career as a painter, but as he went through the process of layering and modifying images, he realized what truly interested him was the way the images metamorphosed in the course of making a painting and he changed tracks to become an animator. In recent years his films have been widely shown internationally, including at the Tate Modern, Sundance Film Festival and on Adult Swim. Fried works with ink and white-out, sometimes adding gouache, collage and even coffee to generate hallucinatory vistas, modifying and shooting the images over and over to create mind-bending animations that evolve at a frenzied pace. He currently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Art Prints available at society6.com/jakefried]. More video work.
