Rimel Neffati Photography

Rimel Neffati, born in 1984, Rouen (France).
quote [I started by making self-portraits because it was an easy way: full control on time, ideas, (no) limits, model, and then because I never had the idea of being a "proper" photographer even though I work with a camera. I just wanted to create images as one might do in painting or drawing].

Hand-drawn animations by Jake Fried

quote [Jake Fried (1984) began his artistic career as a painter, but as he went through the process of layering and modifying images, he realized what truly interested him was the way the images metamorphosed in the course of making a painting and he changed tracks to become an animator. In recent years his films have been widely shown internationally, including at the Tate Modern, Sundance Film Festival and on Adult Swim. Fried works with ink and white-out, sometimes adding gouache, collage and even coffee to generate hallucinatory vistas, modifying and shooting the images over and over to create mind-bending animations that evolve at a frenzied pace. He currently teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Art Prints available at society6.com/jakefried]. More video work.

Handiedan‘s sculptural hand-cut collages

quote [Undisputed protagonists of Handiedan‘s sculptural hand-cut collages, her vintage pin-ups immediately recall the burlesque genre. However if we look into them further many sources of inspiration are revealed: the Neo-Classical and Victorian ages, the Parisian Belle Époque, up to the 1940’s and Post-War sexy imagery. But none of Handiedan‘s ‘models’ really existed. In fact each of them is composed through by assembling anatomical parts of different pre-existing images].

Vermibus: "Dissolving Europe"

Berlin based artist Vermibus regularly collects advertising posters from the streets, using them in his studio as the base material for his work. There, a process of transformation begins. Using solvent, he brushes away the faces and flesh of the models appearing in the posters as well as brand logos. Once the transformation is complete, he then reintroduces the adverts back into their original context, hijacking the publicity, and its purpose.

Recycle series by Jean-François Lepage

Jean-François Lepage (b.1960) is a photographer whose working methods are closer to that of a painter. His paradoxically alluring and disquieting photographs bare evidence to a process in which he physically cuts, draws and works into their surface to intricately evolve and brutally deconstruct the original image. Lepage’s intuitive approach to the image-making process is cathartic. “I’m like a surgeon who faces his patient with lucidity and commitment but with the absolute certitude that the only person I can really save is — myself.”
Jean-François Lepage will be represented at Unseen Photo Fair 2015 (18-20 Sept. 2015) by Galerie Madé.

Dean McDowell Artwork

quote [Dean McDowell was born, lives and works in Northern Ireland. Graduating with honours in graphic design, he worked within the graphics industry for several years before moving into field of fine art. Through the fine art medium he is intrinsically drawn to the beauty within sorrow, this can be seen in his surreal portrait of people. Initially one is drawn in by the dark emotional subject matter and the circumstances of the image, and finally asked to question not only their perspective but the artist’s final intent. Using traditional painting techniques, coupled with his knowledge of illustration he plays with the atmosphere of each painting, never deciding what the mood will be until the final brush stroke].

Apollonia Saintclair: New Works

I've been always a fan of Apollonia Saintclair and few years ago i defined her the "new Manara", but finally Apollonia Saintclair is simply unique, excessive, grotesque, dirty and genius.
