The Gazelena Project

The Gazelena Project - Story + video quote [New York University students Allistar Peters and Meng Li came up with the "breastcam" as part of a thesis project. Ms Li nips out to the city's streets in a dress fitted with cameras to catch passing oglers in the act, and the double-C TV footage is broadcast over the web. Mr Peters said the idea was not to affront those who fail to keep their eyes above his bosom friend's neckline but to address the issue of public surveillance].

Do It Yourself: Handmade Guitar Picks

LINK quote [Handmade guitar picks. Most are made from old plastic cards (gift cards, credit cards, hotel room keys, etc.) Other materials are cardboard, "Handi Snacks" stick, CD, Toshiba laptop, and plastic packaging. I trace a store bought pick with an ultra fine sharpie, cut them out with scissors (for plastic), and sand the edges with an emery board. The metal ones are more complicated].

Art You Can Disappear Into

LINK quote [Desiree Palmen is an artist that can really get lost in her work - literally. She creates bizarre artwork of invisible people. To create these interesting illusions, she photographs a specific location or spot, such as a bookshelf, desk scattered with papers, or even somewhere in a park. She then spends a lot of time painting a homemade suit that is made out of cotton. She paints this suit by hand, trying to meticulously match the exact colors of the background photo. Lastly, she puts the finished suit on a model who then poses in the original location and tries to blend in as much as possible into the background].

"Her" Chair Is Not For Him...Hopefully

quote [Disney's Cinderella painted a pretty picture of a perverse scene—only the one girl in all the land with the perfectly-proportioned foot could fulfill the prince's grimy foot fetish. So you can consider the Her Chair a modern Cinderella equivalent...if Cinderella were to have dropped an ass-molded plastic chair during her race against midnight. A sexier take on the influential Danish design of Verner Panton, just make sure that Cinderella doesn't gain any weight, or the fairy tale is over].

LINK quote [Opening a bottle of beer isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but to Moaning Lisa there is nothing better. Just place her metal bottom around the bottle cap and as you open it, she lets out her orgasmic screams of pleasure. You'll never think of bottle opening in the same way again].

The Human Calendar

The Human Calendar quote [Back in 2001 I created a website called The Human Clock. Since the Human Clock website represented time with pictures, I figured I could predictably milk the idea with slower-moving units of time — calendar dates. Sadly however, the calendar remained neglected...].

Come in / Go away. Universal Doormat

LINK quote [This mind boggling doormat reads differently depending whether you are walking in or out of the house. It's got to be seen to be believed but from one side this really does read "Come In" and from the other "Go Away". And when you have finished marvelling at this remarkable feat of graphic design you can wipe the mud from your boots too!!].

Logo.Hallucination

LINK A project by Christophe Bruno. quote [Pattern recognition is a field in full expansion. It constitutes a key technology in the domains of safety, of the management of the rights, of marketing… « Logo.Hallucination » proposes to use technologies of recognition of images in order to detect subliminal forms of logos or emblems, hidden (generally involuntarily) in the visual environment or in the whole of the images of the Internet. The found images will be accessible in a weblog, proposing a comparison between the original on the one hand and, on the other hand, the brand and its logo].
