David Oreilly: RGB XYZ for all

LINK quote [I’m having trouble dealing with the requests for this short..I spent most of last week burning dvds of it :/ not many people know it was hiding online all along. So here it is, the award-winning destructive and massively overrated RGB XYZ. This is a slightly cut down version from the original holy ghost prerelease, for anyone who has a copy of that].

The First Pornographic Cartoon
quote [The first porno-cartoon was made in New York. It was called ‘Eveready Harton’ and was made in the late 20’s, silent, of course—by three studios. Each one did a section of it without telling the other studios what they were doing. Studio A finished the first part and gave the last drawing to Studio B. Involved were Max Fleischer, Paul Terry and the Mutt and Jeff studio].

Game Over Project
quote [GAME OVER is one of the art projects developed by the Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond. It consists of a series of collaborative animation movies which revive some of the very first video games. The pixels are replaced by a group of real human-beings that are moving from seat to seat in a theatre during about 4 to 6 hours. Each "pixel" has its own rules and decides what s/he wants to do for each picture. Once all these pictures are turned into a short animation movie, a giant human-scale video game unfolds "live". The project started with video performance of Pong. The second video was Space Invaders on June 24th 2006, followed by Pole Position on February 11th 2007, and Tetris on November 24th 2007].

Björk: Triumph of a Heart
quote ["Triumph of a Heart" was the third single from Bjork's album 'Medulla'. The video was directed by Spike Jonze. In the video, Bjork tires of her boyfriend, played by a real cat, and storms out of the house for a night out on the town. She goes to a pub where the soundtrack stops and the locals (including Dokaka) join her for a special performance of the song recorded for the video. She eventually returns back home and rekindles her affections for her cat-boyfriend. During the filming of the video, as she was running down the street, she accidentally stumbled and slid down the street with her face on the ground. The incident, as well as the scrapes on her face, were kept in the video].

The Simpsons On Drugs

LINK quote [It's no secre. The Simpsons has relied as heavily on drug humor as Diff'rent Strokes did on "whatchootalkinboutwillis". Ranging from binge drinking to marijuana use to LSD-like hallucinations, all the members of the Simpson clan — and a great many other residents of Springfield — have enjoyed a wide variety of drug-induced exploits].

Animated AIDS Ads are Awesome
quote [These animations are French ads promoting AIDS awareness and condom use. They are pretty entertaining, and well done. The sex scenes are hillarious. The straight version is above, the gay version below. Enjoy].

Low Morale: Creep. Laith Bahrani

Low Morale - Creep quote [Low Morale: Creep is a music video of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ song. It took 3 months to create and contains over one million key frames... Creep was created as an extension to a series of shorts called `Low Morale’ which I began to develop during a well-paid, comfortable yet soul-destroying job as a senior designer in a multimedia agency. The countless days spent in the run down converted office, churning out banal multimedia and animation for faceless, lifeless, clueless blue chips had taken their toll on my soul. Creep became my creative escape tunnel. The video actually started as a lip-syncing experiment with the central Low Morale character but rapidly grew into a cathartic opus that aimed to reflect my job dissatisfaction and the pain caused by a broken relationship. As I’m sure you’ll glean from the video, they were indeed happy days].

Colorful
Episodes 1/16 quote [Colorful is a sixteen-episode anime directed by Ryutaro Nakamura and based on the manga by Torajirou Kishi. The episodes are composed of vignettes typically involving men and teenage boys attempting to catch a glimpse of women's panties and/or look down their blouses. The episodes are fast-paced, experimental in animation and sound/music, manic and very short (about seven minutes each) and filled with ecchi comedy].
