Do It Yourself: Handmade Guitar Picks

LINK quote [Handmade guitar picks. Most are made from old plastic cards (gift cards, credit cards, hotel room keys, etc.) Other materials are cardboard, "Handi Snacks" stick, CD, Toshiba laptop, and plastic packaging. I trace a store bought pick with an ultra fine sharpie, cut them out with scissors (for plastic), and sand the edges with an emery board. The metal ones are more complicated].

Björk: Triumph of a Heart

quote ["Triumph of a Heart" was the third single from Bjork's album 'Medulla'. The video was directed by Spike Jonze. In the video, Bjork tires of her boyfriend, played by a real cat, and storms out of the house for a night out on the town. She goes to a pub where the soundtrack stops and the locals (including Dokaka) join her for a special performance of the song recorded for the video. She eventually returns back home and rekindles her affections for her cat-boyfriend. During the filming of the video, as she was running down the street, she accidentally stumbled and slid down the street with her face on the ground. The incident, as well as the scrapes on her face, were kept in the video].

Video Games Hidden in 80s Albums

LINK quote [One strategy that major record companies have been employing lately to deter downloading is adding bonus computer content to new CD releases. I recently discovered that this technique is not unique to CD's, but had in fact been practiced in the vinyl era as well. That's right: there were a handful of records released in the late 70's and early 80's that contained computer programs as part of the audio. This is totally insane, and totally great].

Low Morale: Creep. Laith Bahrani

Low Morale - Creep quote [Low Morale: Creep is a music video of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ song. It took 3 months to create and contains over one million key frames... Creep was created as an extension to a series of shorts called `Low Morale’ which I began to develop during a well-paid, comfortable yet soul-destroying job as a senior designer in a multimedia agency. The countless days spent in the run down converted office, churning out banal multimedia and animation for faceless, lifeless, clueless blue chips had taken their toll on my soul. Creep became my creative escape tunnel. The video actually started as a lip-syncing experiment with the central Low Morale character but rapidly grew into a cathartic opus that aimed to reflect my job dissatisfaction and the pain caused by a broken relationship. As I’m sure you’ll glean from the video, they were indeed happy days].
