Spectrum-style retrogames

quote [A popular fashion in indie gaming is the graphical style of the Sinclair Spectrum computer (enormously popular in the UK in the early 1980s and sold in the US as the Timex Sinclair), whose peculiar limitations forced a certain discipline on programmers and artists. Jonathan Whiting's Stalwart, out this week, has all the qualities of a Spectrum classic: twitchy, near-impossible gameplay, clashing bright-on-black colors, and a pounding chippy soundtrack. For a less frenetic (and less frustrating) experience with the same aesthetic, try Locomalito's L'Abbaye des Morts, a platformer with a delicious historical twist].
